PLEASE READ! TNR policy:
On our designated trap-neuter-return (TNR) walk-in dates, we allow ONE feral/stray cat from a given colony/location in a humane trap without an appointment.
- Please ensure traps are fully closed and secure – use zip ties if needed.
- Traps should remain covered AT ALL TIMES with a sheet/towel and ideally lined with newspaper – NO straw/hay or litter boxes in traps.
- You cannot bring friends/neighbors/family to walk-in a 2nd cat from your colony. Please respect our policy so we can continue offering walk-in days.
We reserve the right to turn away anyone who does not follow our policies and TNR guidlines.
- Cats must be in a full-sized trap. NO squirrel or kitten traps. Properly sized trap examples:
Alley Cat Allies website is a great resource for TNR tips and tricks! See their website for TNR basics and tips for hard to trap cats.
TNR Basics:
- Never trap without a plan – always check our website before trapping.
- Do NOT leave traps set and unattended.
- Once a cat is in the trap, ensure it is securely closed and bring the trap indoors to a quiet area until transport to clinic.
- Do NOT transport cats in truck beds – must be in the main part of the vehicle.
Recovery after surgery for community cats:
- Cats may be groggy, shivering, or wobbly at pickup. They should remain in the fully covered trap for 24 hours in a warm (60 degrees F+), quiet, indoor location.
- Once awake on the evening of surgery, drop some canned/wet cat food through the top of the trap (water not recommended, cats can spill it on themsevles).
- Re-release the cat the following day (unless told otherwise by our staff) in the exact trapping location.
